Whether you're visiting a luxury or budget Resort, travelling with a baby or toddler in The Maldives can definitely seem like a daunting task. The thought of packing countless nappies, wipes, and baby gear can be overwhelming - and we've been there!
Good news though - our recent Resort experience proved to be surprisingly smooth, and I'm excited to share some insights for anyone planning a similar trip to The Maldives with their little one.

This blog post will go through the requirements and needs of our (at the time) 5-month old baby and how we were able to still enjoy our holiday!
Seaplane or Speedboat Journey
One of my initial concerns was the level of noise during the seaplane/ speedboat journey. To ease my worries, I bought ear defenders for my baby. However, once we were on board, I realized the noise wasn't as loud as I had anticipated. The hum of the engine mixed with the excitement of the journey seemed to lull Maia into a peaceful state. In hindsight, ear defenders might not have been necessary, but it's always better to be prepared, especially when travelling with little ones.
Pushchair
Fortunately, upon request, the resort provided a pushchair, it was a basic one but perfect for strolls around the island (in areas where the sand is flatter!). This amenity made exploring the island with Maia a delightful experience. She was able to rest in it whilst we were having lunch and seemed very content!
Bath Time
While there wasn't a designated baby bath, we found it surprisingly easy to adapt to bathing Maia in the bathtub, shower or spacious sink in our Villa. Don't forget to pack baby's toiletries, towel and a few bath toys!
Baby Cot
Upon entering our accommodation, we were delighted to find a beautiful baby cot awaiting Maia. Its sturdy frame and mattress provided her with a cosy place for restful nights and naps. Knowing that Maia was sleeping soundly in her own comfortable space gave us peace of mind and allowed us to fully unwind and recharge after adventurous days in the sun.
Dining Out
When dining out, we appreciated the flexibility afforded to us by the resort. On occasions when she was awake and alert, we simply brought her along in the pushchair, allowing her to soak in the sights and sounds. Alternatively, if she happened to be napping, we arranged for a trusted member of the resort staff to keep an eye on her, ensuring that we could enjoy our meals with peace of mind.
Babysitting Services
One of the most reassuring aspects of our stay was the availability of professional babysitting services offered by the resort. Knowing that Maia was in capable hands allowed us to enjoy some well-deserved alone time, whether indulging in a romantic dinner or a sunset stroll along the beach. The trained and attentive babysitters not only provided excellent care for Maia but also went above and beyond to ensure her comfort and happiness, making our holiday truly unforgettable.
Sterilising Equipment
During our stay, I found myself in need of a large bowl to sterilize Maia's bottles. With a simple request to the resort staff, I was promptly provided with the necessary equipment, demonstrating their commitment to accommodating the needs of families travelling with young children. This level of attentiveness and responsiveness made our experience all the more seamless!
Friendly Staff
Perhaps the most memorable aspect of our stay was the genuine warmth and hospitality extended to us by the resort staff. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with smiles and open arms, instantly putting us at ease. Whether offering helpful tips for navigating the island or going out of their way to ensure our comfort and satisfaction, the staff's unwavering dedication left a lasting impression on our family. Their kindness and attentiveness transformed our stay into an unforgettable journey filled with laughter, love, and cherished moments.
Our experience travelling to a Maldives resort with our baby exceeded all expectations, thanks to thoughtful amenities, attentive staff, and a welcoming atmosphere. Despite initial apprehensions, everything fell into place well, allowing us to create priceless memories as a family.
