Looking for a serene, family-friendly escape in the Maldives? Look no further than Dhiffushi. This idyllic island is perfect for a short getaway, offering pristine beaches, a beautiful and calm lagoon, a welcoming community, and plenty of activities that cater to both adults and little ones.
Here's a detailed account of our delightful 2-night stay in a local guesthouse on Dhiffushi, only a 30-minute speedboat from the airport.
Accommodation
We chose a charming local guesthouse called Araamu for our stay (if we were to go back I would probably opt with a different guesthouse option as the location of this one was not great), but it still turned out to be perfect for our small family. The guesthouse was clean, comfortable, and had its own restaurant. The staff were hospitable, making sure we had everything we needed for a pleasant stay.
Arrival & Beach Fun
After a smooth check-in, we couldn't wait to hit the beach. Dhiffushi's beaches are a slice of paradise—soft, white sand and crystal-clear waters. Our toddler had a blast building sandcastles and splashing in the shallow waters. We spent the afternoon relaxing under the shade of palm trees, enjoying the gentle sea breeze.
Island Exploration
In the evening, we decided to explore the island. Dhiffushi is small enough to walk around, and we discovered charming local shops and eateries. The locals were friendly, and we felt very safe. We had dinner at a local restaurant, savouring fresh seafood while our toddler enjoyed some delicious Maldivian snacks.
More Beach Time and Local Attractions
Our second day started with a hearty breakfast at the guesthouse. We then headed back to the beach for more sun and fun. Dhiffushi's calm waters are ideal for toddlers, making it easy for our little one to enjoy the sea safely.
A Blissful Family Escape
Dhiffushi was the perfect destination for a peaceful family getaway. The island's tranquil environment, combined with the friendly locals and beautiful beaches, made our stay memorable. If you're looking for a quiet and relaxing place to unwind with your family, Dhiffushi should definitely be on your list.
